As I've not yet upgraded the PC and HiPiHi's specs are relatively high (entry point being a 3GHz CPU and Nvidia Geforce 7600GS/ATI Radeon X1600 128MB), I'm curious if people are managing with lower specs; in my case, a 2.4GHz and Nvidia 6600GT.

Too much to read to read it all slowly and carefully.

While I have them handy, here's minimum and recommended for Novoking:
and the Novoking sys reqs:

Memory: 512MB above;
Graphics: ATI 9500 or GeForce 5600;
Hard drive capacity: more than 2GB of space.

Novoking recommended configuration:
CPU: P4 2.8G; AMD Athlon 64 3000 +
Memory:more than 1 GB ;
Graphics: ATI x700 128M or 128M Geforce 6600;

I don't find these system requirements for Hipihi or Novoking to be very challenging.

My machine with 1gig of ram, a now aging Pentium 3.2 Ghz dual core, and an ATI x800 does just fine. I paid about five hundred for it years ago now.

I can run either of these programs and SL at the same time and it works ok.

Cool. I had a strong computer too, well for those times... but I had to get a laptop with lower specs so I can carry it around. ...heheheh. even now, I don't have any space for a tower... don't ask why... its why I'm looking for job.

And if you don't find these specs to be challenging, wow your puter must be magical.
Besides, there is 3d that doesn't require all of that. Or even a broadband connection.

That way, more people can see it, instead of the fortunate few who even know what
a Ram or Gig bit is.

I don't consider these specs challenging or my PC magical. And there are things that don't require any net connection or a PC either. But the topic here is HiPiHi (with a simple side note of the requirements for Novoking). It's not a debate thread. Let's save the debate for the appropriate discussions please.

Yeah. It didn't work on my old system. That means there is a good chance it doesn't work on most systems. Plus does anyone remember what its really like with 56k? An easy 20 meg file would take me half a day.
When I first discoverred VW's, which were active worlds, superscape, vrml, half life , gta SA, EVERYTHIING works on my old laptop. But everything after, including Second Life requires all kinds of crap... requires the user to look behind the dashboard.
In active worlds, I learned some 3d geometry coding because I wanted to...

I am not viewing web3d as some sort of elite organization of super users... kind of the opposite.
But I feel that the word describing a lot of vw users as being elite in one way or the other to be accurate. Its something you want to minimize.

summary. NO. my old laptop 1.8 ghz with 64 video and 512 ram DIDn't run Hipihi
But I can run Vside, Gta san Andreas, active worlds, vrml/x3d worlds, zero3000.

SECOND life and all of its kind sucks. Kaneva, There, IMVU Even with the best computer, I have no desire to go into any of these spaces. I'm sticking to real web3d, which is located on webpages and not
on your amusement park places.

The real web3d would connect Hipihi and second Life. Now that would resembel a
neigbherhood with TWO houses.

Now lets put our money where our mouth is--- I have tried.. it don't work on m y pc.
I got invited to beta.
Since you guys have such good pc's, why don't YOU tell us how the HIPHI
english interface works?

If you're "sticking to real web3d" and not interested in HiPiHi, I'm unsure why you bother commenting on this thread unless it's to be needlessly combative and insulting. Whatever your reasons, thank you for making it clear you're comments are no longer worth my time.

Did you read my posts here? I shall spell it out for you. I wanted to try Hipihi. Didn't work.
Thus, my assessement is that it doesn't work on old pc's. How is that not relevant?

I don't care about your time, glad to have wasted it.

uhmmm very interesting...
I'd like to try this new platform
since now I had been stopped by the language issue
please keep us updated about the full usage of the english interface!

There should be a new version coming out this week or next week, with a number of changes, including more English support, inventory functions, and lower system requirements.

I'm reading that the minimum video card requirement should go from a nVidia 6600 to a nVidia 6200.

I just tried the building editor last night, there have already been some changes I hadn't tested out yet.

In the Hipihi prim building system you can select an existing object of yours and click copy. This copies the object to a buffer, like the windows copy buffer. Then you can click paste and past a copy of the object inworld. This used to paste an object in at a seemingly random nearby location. Now you get to decide where on the ground the new object should be, a considerable improvement. There used to be a confirmation prompt when you delete an object, this has been eliminated.

There's lots of things being built in the Hipihi world, Intel and Vidal Sasoon have places inworld now. There's at least one place that appears to be a resident done build with polar bears made from prims.
