3d Model in MAX and export to all platforms...

Just as a reminder, it's a simple process to rip 3D files from the videostream and upload them independently (or have them fabbed). Thus, the content which people hope to someday bring into SL will... Continue

Hipihi - partial preliminary English interface

If you're "sticking to real web3d" and not interested in HiPiHi, I'm unsure why you bother commenting on this thread unless it's to be needlessly combative and insulting. Whatever your reasons, tha... Continue

Hipihi - partial preliminary English interface

I don't consider these specs challenging or my PC magical. And there are things that don't require any net connection or a PC either. But the topic here is HiPiHi (with a simple side note of the re... Continue

The Reputation Chameleon

For those of you who recall my earlier blog entry discussing the Philips Design probe discussion (inside Second Life - Link), consider this a follow-on post which gets into Reputation and the potential problems that arise when virtual methods leak into the real world.

SteelCase Talks Design Virtually

About a week ago I was lucky enough to get myself logged into Second Life to attend a question & answer session with representatives from Steelcase, the office furniture manufacturer. Unfortunately there won’t be an audio posted online, so I thought I’d post a couple of things I wrote down at the conclusion of the meeting and share them here...

A Virtual World-Based PLM for the Fashion Industry

After posting a recent blog entry on reBang, I learned that the fashion industry may leapfrog both the engineering and industrial design communities. While I routinely find that engineers/industrial designs dismiss virtual worlds, the fashion industry seems ready to bypass standalone 3D applications and move straight into integrated virtual world/3D modeling/PLM solutions.

You can read the original entry on my reBang blog (Link). Be sure to r… Continue

Perceptions of Qwaq

I caught word of Qwaq, the Croquet-based virtual world collaboration application, receiving an additional $7M in funding a couple of days ago and have been watching the word spread, both curious as to how it would be received but also because of what CEO Greg Nuyens told Red Herring (Link):

Hi, Csven
Your blog post is closed for comments.
So called 'reputations' are VERY questionable practice to say the least. It's always an attempt to apply 'social pressure' in a way eastern cultures or cultures based on totalitarian doctrines (be it religious or anti-religious) are doing it. Technologically - it's useless and not interesting, because of the fact that ANY AND EVERY 'reputation' can always be highjacked by simplest social engineering. Useless and offensive for grown up people.

P.S. The last linkl/joke in your original blog post is particularly funny. :) hehe. Let me give you one too, you will laugh, I promise: http://virtuallyblind.com/benjamin-duranske-on-prokofy-neva/
Don't worry too much, there IS a true reputation. :)

Regards.

Not liking that Editing a blog entry (in this case, turning comments "off"), re-publishes the thing on the main page.

Hi csven, thanks for the add :D
Thank you as well for stopping by. For intensive navigators, it is not a question of how much time you spend over a given site but whether it helps building a common ground. I hope it did!
