Don’t Ask – Is My Site Indexed?

Is my site indexed? That’s the question that many new webmasters ask. This question is really easy to answer actually. If you are a Google fan, head on over to google.com and type in the command site:mysitename.com. If you see your site come up in the results, then yes, your site is indexed. If not, then you have some work to do.

So what are the best ways to get your site indexed? Well, if you don’t want to invest any money, you can always do it manually. One easy thing to try is to submit your site’s RSS feeds to various RSS aggregator sites. Or write an article with a backlink back to your site and submit it to a Web 2.0 property like Squidoo or Hubpages. Or the easiest way of all, is to add a backlink from one of your own sites that is already indexed in Google.

If you are willing to invest some money into tools, then there are some products that were specifically built to get your site indexed. Two of the most popular ones are Backlink Energizer and Backlink Index Express. Both of these let you submit many links at a time, and they will automatically post content to other Web 2.0 properties with a link back to your site. It’s a mostly hands-free process, and can be very effective.

Sometimes, people are interested in seeing if multiple sites are indexed in Google. Checking this manually can be very time consuming. Instead, why not use one of the few index checker tools that let you check multiple urls at a time. It’s a super effective way to check that your backlink efforts are actually working well or not.

As you can see, checking if your site is indexed is a very simple process. And to get your site indexed quicker, the key as always, is to get more backlinks.
